Job Description

The Shop Helper supports day-to-day operations across multiple areas of the shop, including deburring, spot welding, assembly, and assisting on the paint line. This role involves hands-on general labor work, using hand and power tools to help ensure products move smoothly and efficiently through production.

Responsibilities

  • Perform deburring tasks to remove sharp edges and excess material from parts, ensuring a clean and safe finish.
  • Assist with spot welding operations under guidance, helping to assemble metal components accurately and safely.
  • Support the paint line by preparing parts, moving materials, and helping maintain a smooth flow of painted products.
  • Help with basic assembly work, using hand and power tools to put together parts and components as directed.
  • Use grinding tools and other shop equipment to finish parts and maintain quality standards.
  • Carry out general labor tasks around the shop, including moving materials, organizing work areas, and assisting different departments as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use tools and equipment correctly to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Clean and tidy work areas regularly to support a clean, organized, and efficient production flow.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Willingness to learn deburring, spot welding, and assembly processes.
  • Comfort using basic hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic in a shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • No prior experience required for this role.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with deburring and spot welding is nice to have.
  • Familiarity with grinding tools and basic assembly work is beneficial.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a clean and well-organized manufacturing setting across two separate buildings: one dedicated to paint operations and the other focused on welding and fabrication. The production flow is well structured, and the team maintains a high standard of cleanliness, with regular cleaning to keep the environment safe and efficient. You will work with a variety of hand tools, power tools, grinding equipment, and spot welding tools, and you will be around active paint and fabrication processes. The atmosphere is practical, collaborative, and hands-on, with a focus on keeping the shop running smoothly and maintaining an orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Michael, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
