Job Title: Maintenance Helper

Job Description

This role supports the maintenance department with general facility upkeep, focusing primarily on painting and basic labor tasks. You will assist with preparing and painting interior and exterior surfaces, protecting work areas, and completing light demolition and clean-up to help keep the facility in excellent condition.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance team with day-to-day facility upkeep tasks.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and basic surface prep.
  • Paint walls and other surfaces using rollers and brushes according to instructions and quality standards.
  • Mask and protect floors, door knobs, trim, and other surfaces before painting to prevent damage or overspray.
  • Apply new coats of paint in an even and consistent manner, ensuring clean lines and proper coverage.
  • Assist with stripping and removing old flooring and other materials as directed.
  • Perform general labor duties such as carrying materials, setting up work areas, and cleaning up after tasks are completed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and use tools and materials properly while working inside and outside the facility.
  • Communicate with the maintenance team about progress, issues, and any additional support needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly dispose of debris and used materials.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of painting experience, including use of rollers and brushes.
  • Hands-on experience with paint preparation, including masking, taping, and surface protection.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, and basic clean-up.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on completing tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a maintenance team.
  • Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in a facility environment.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices related to painting and general labor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a shop helper, painter helper, or similar support role.
  • Experience in construction, remodeling, or facility maintenance.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and painting equipment.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and support various maintenance activities as needed.

Work Environment

You will work both inside and outside the facility, supporting maintenance projects in various areas of the property. The schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role is physically active and involves standing, walking, lifting, and working with painting tools and general labor equipment in a typical industrial or shop setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
