Job Overview

We are seeking a Wood Fabrication Shop Helper to support the production of large timber components for park and public‑space construction projects. This hands‑on role involves wood fabrication, material handling, quality checks, and forklift operation in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working with hand and power tools to produce high‑quality structural and architectural wood products.

Products include park benches, playground equipment, fitness structures, and other outdoor amenities used nationwide.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform wood fabrication on large timber assemblies, preparing structural and architectural components for park construction projects
  • Lay out assemblies and fabricate parts according to drawings and blueprints
  • Saw materials to size and drill timber frames per specifications and layout details
  • Handle materials throughout the shop, including loading, moving, staging, and organizing work‑in‑progress and finished products
  • Prepare outgoing shipments by organizing, packaging, and staging completed components for transport
  • Conduct quality checks using tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to ensure components meet design requirements
  • Operate a forklift safely to move raw materials, fabricated parts, and finished goods
  • Use hand and power tools such as drills and saws efficiently and safely
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks while maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficient in accurate measurement and use of a tape measure
  • Forklift experience with ability to operate safely in a shop environment
  • Experience with wood fabrication, particularly working with large timber components
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools commonly used in woodworking and fabrication
  • Strong attention to detail when performing quality inspections
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • Previous experience as a shop helper or in a manufacturing or fabrication support role
  • Experience working with structural or architectural wood products
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials

Work Environment

This position is based in a back‑shop manufacturing facility that produces park benches, playground equipment, fitness equipment, slides, trash cans, and similar outdoor products for clients nationwide. The shop is open to the elements, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. The role requires standing, moving materials, operating equipment, and working around large timber components throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
