Location: New York City (Hybrid)

Compensation: $260,000-$330,000 base


About the Opportunity

A global software company serving the life sciences industry is seeking a Senior Vice President of Engineering to lead a large-scale engineering organization responsible for delivering mission-critical enterprise software used by leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare organizations.


This executive will play a key role in shaping technology strategy, scaling engineering operations, and driving the delivery of highly available, secure, and compliant software platforms. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the SVP of Engineering will partner closely with Product, Design, Data, and Business leaders to support the company's next phase of growth.


The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, strong organizational leadership, and experience operating within highly regulated environments.


What You'll Do

  • Lead engineering strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of enterprise software products and platform capabilities.
  • Partner with executive leadership to define long-term technology investments, organizational priorities, and operating models.
  • Drive the evolution of cloud-native systems, platform architecture, and engineering best practices to support scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Build and develop high-performing engineering leaders while creating an environment focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish frameworks for career growth, leadership development, performance management, and organizational effectiveness across the engineering function.
  • Collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to align technical execution with customer needs and company objectives.
  • Champion modern software development practices, including the effective adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows.
  • Oversee engineering quality, security, risk management, and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Support global recruiting efforts and workforce planning to ensure the company continues to attract and retain exceptional technical talent.


What We're Looking For

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant leadership responsibility within large-scale technology organizations.
  • Experience leading managers and senior engineering leaders across multiple teams, functions, and product areas.
  • Proven success scaling enterprise software platforms that serve complex customer environments.
  • Experience working within regulated industries such as life sciences, healthcare, financial services, or other compliance-driven sectors.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, distributed systems, software delivery practices, and organizational scaling.
  • Track record of partnering with executive leadership to influence company strategy and drive business outcomes.
  • Experience implementing engineering operating models, talent frameworks, and career development programs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting data-intensive products, analytics platforms, or AI-enabled software solutions.
  • Familiarity with quality, security, privacy, and compliance requirements associated with regulated industries.
  • Experience leading technology organizations through periods of significant growth, transformation, or modernization.
