Senior Tax Manager (Private Equity)

Senior Tax Manager Role - PE Firm - Hybrid Schedule

I'm working with one of my favorite clients, one of the most active middle market PE firms in the LA area, to hire a Senior Tax Manager who can own everything tax. You'll report directly to the CFO and get exposure to the greater finance function as well. This is a not a support function, you'll be the CFOs' thought partner and have a seat on the senior leadership team.

This role is perfect for two profiles:

  • You've spent years at a Big 4 or Top 10 accounting firm running the tax compliance workstreams for private equity or other alternative asset manager clients
  • You're already in-house at a PE firm (or similar) and ready for a seat at the table with more ownership

Selling Points:

  • The firm itself - innovative culture and smart people who genuinely like to be around each other - they invest in innovative companies too
  • The role - get c-suite exposure, solve interesting problems, learn finance more broadly outside of tax

What you'll own:

  • The full tax compliance lifecycle across fund structures: domestic and international, funds, AIVs, holding companies, and the management company.
  • K-1 collection and issuance, FATCA, FBARs, 1042s, 1099s, withholding on distributions for non-US investors
  • Maintain tax basis fund allocations, distribution waterfalls, and PTP tracking, and prepare holding company financials and tax allocation schedules

What we're looking for:

  • CPA preferred, with 6–8 years of tax experience - can come straight from Public Accounting serving PE clients or from in-house at another PE or alt asset manager
  • Partnership tax compliance experience
  • Hands-on experience with tax allocation waterfalls, non-US fund structures, foreign investors, and pass-through entities
  • Someone who's comfortable being the tax person in the room, not one of many on a team
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfort with and curiosity about automation and tax technology
  • Low ego, high ownership - you flag issues early, solve problems independently, and communicate clearly with both finance colleagues and external advisors

Office Schedule: 4 days a week in office

Compensation: $220k-$230k base salary + competitive cash bonus
