Position Overview

 

Emery Pharma is seeking a Mass Spectrometry Scientist with strong hands-on expertise in LC-MS/MS on Agilent platforms (MassHunter). The ideal candidate is a Ph.D.-level analytical scientist with a few years of experience in pharma/biotech/CRO settings who can independently operate, troubleshoot, and maintain LC-MS/MS systems; design and execute methods; and manage, process, and review data in compliance with GLP and ICH M10 expectations. This is a primarily bench-focused role with cross-functional exposure to Quality Assurance, Business Development, and Project Management. Previous CRO experience is a huge plus.


 Essential Job Functions

·      Develop, optimize, and qualify/validate small-molecule LC-MS/MS methods (Agilent LC-MS/MS; MassHunter) for bioanalysis (e.g., PK, biomarker quantitation), impurity profiling, and related applications.

·      Independently operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on Agilent LC-MS/MS and supporting HPLC/UPLC systems; partner with vendors as needed.

·      Plan and execute studies: sample prep, calibration/QC, runs, and batch management; ensure data integrity and traceability.

·      Process, interpret, and review data (MassHunter/qual/quant workflows); perform QA-ready data package assembly and author technical reports.

·      Follow regulatory guidance and internal SOPs; contribute to deviations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement.

·      Collaborate with Project Management/BD to clarify scopes and timelines; communicate study progress and technical findings to internal teams and, when needed, to clients.

·      Maintain organized electronic lab notebooks, raw data, and metadata consistent with chain-of-custody and regulatory expectations.

·      Represent Emery Pharma at scientific meetings, client discussions, and industry conferences.

·      Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

·      Work interactively and cooperatively with all functions of the company and with senior staff to help achieve the company’s vision.

Requirements

 

·      Position is onsite full-time, Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

·      Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or very closely related field is required

·      2-3+ years of experience in pharma/biotech/CRO settings, with deep expertise in LC-MS/MS. HRMS, GC-MS is a plus

·      Demonstrated proficiency with Agilent LC-MS/MS platforms and MassHunter

·      Strong command of GLP, ICH M10, and relevant FDA/EMA guidance; experience supporting regulatory submissions (IND/CTA; NDA/BLA contributions a plus).

·      Excellent communication, client-facing presence, and proven ability to interpret complex datasets, troubleshoot, and drive decisions in fast-paced environments.

·      Hands-on mindset with the ability to lead scientifically while managing internal/external activities and multiple concurrent studies.

·      Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps

·      Appropriate technical experience of relevant laboratory techniques within a regulated environment

·      Proficiency in hands-on analytical work while managing internal and external activities

·      Exhibit strong technical skills and the ability to critically evaluate raw data and results without supervision
