Overview
Be a part of a team developing state-of-the-art automation systems for mass spectrometry applied to biotherapeutics cell line development.
This role will leverage and develop the next phase of automation development in mass spectrometry supporting the Cell Engineering and Analytical Sciences group. The role blends hands-on robotic operations, sample preparation, method development, and data analysis.
Job Description
• Operating and validating robotic runs; monitoring performance, documenting deviations, and driving corrective action.
• Develop and implement mass spectrometry assays to optimize protein expression levels, protein quality, and quantitation of biotherapeutics. Ensure accuracy and success of MS experiments through expertise in sample preparation.
• Deploying, optimizing, maintaining, and continuously improving high-throughput workflows using liquid-handling robots and integrated automation workcells.
• Analyze antibodies using peptide mapping, intact mass analysis, native mass spectrometry, and acoustic ejection mass spectrometry.
• Troubleshooting instrumentation by coordinating with internal subject matter experts and external vendors to perform root cause analysis based on detailed scientific and technical investigations
• Prepare and present scientific findings and recommendations to internal customers, project teams, and senior management.
Qualifications
• Creative, independent problem‑solver with strong attention to detail and the ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver in a fast‑paced environment.
• A minimum of a B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is requited. An advanced degree is preferred.
• Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills (both written and oral), and a commitment in close collaboration with scientists, vendors, and end users across seniority levels.
• Previous hands on experience with executing protocols, pipetting and protein sample handling skills.
• Experience with operating liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman) and/or basic programming experience (Python, JavaScript, R, C++/C#).
• Hands on experience with LC-MS and associated sample preparation.
