Job Overview

Join a dynamic team developing state-of-the-art automation systems for mass spectrometry applications in biotherapeutics cell line development.

This role focuses on advancing next-generation automation solutions to support the Cell Engineering and Analytical Sciences group. You will work at the intersection of robotics, sample preparation, method development, and data analysis in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and validate automated robotic workflows; monitor system performance, document deviations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute mass spectrometry assays to optimize protein expression, assess protein quality, and quantify biotherapeutics.
  • Ensure high-quality MS results through strong expertise in sample preparation techniques.
  • Deploy, optimize, maintain, and continuously improve high-throughput workflows using liquid-handling robots and integrated automation systems.
  • Perform antibody analysis using peptide mapping, intact mass analysis, native mass spectrometry, and acoustic ejection mass spectrometry.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues by collaborating with internal experts and external vendors; conduct root cause analyses based on scientific and technical investigations.
  • Analyze data and present findings, insights, and recommendations to project teams, stakeholders, and senior management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory protocols, including pipetting and protein sample handling.
  • Experience operating liquid-handling systems (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman) is highly desirable.
  • Basic programming experience (Python, JavaScript, R, C++, or C#) is a plus.
  • Practical experience with LC-MS and associated sample preparation techniques.
