Senior Payroll Accountant for a long-term contract opportunity with strong potential to convert to full-time.
Location
Herndon, VA (hybrid – typically 1 day onsite
Compensation
$50–$60/hr (contract) | ~$102K–$115K+ upon conversion

Responsibilities
Own day-to-day payroll operations, including complex transactions and escalations
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries
Process terminations and off-cycle payrolls in compliance with multi-state regulations
Manage garnishments, levies, and multi-state tax requirements
Perform payroll reconciliations and support labor distribution
Troubleshoot payroll issues and support process improvements
Assist with system enhancements, testing, and training
Qualifications
5+ years of payroll experience (government contracting preferred)
Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax compliance
Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or Workday
Advanced Excel skills
Experience supporting payrolls for 1,500+ employees
Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Nice to Have
CPP certification
Experience in large payroll environments (3,000+ employees)
