The Opportunity
A long-standing Century City boutique is looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial Head of Litigation to lead and expand their litigation department.
This is not a typical lateral move, the role offers a seat at the management table, allowing you to architect the department’s growth, operational strategy, and overall vision.
Current Infrastructure
- The Team: Immediately oversee a dedicated group of 4 attorneys.
- Growth Mandate: Actively build and scale the team. The firm welcomes bringing existing associates or paralegals if you have an established team.
- Resources: The firm operates with nearly all internal resources, with a commitment to hiring additional litigation paralegals as the department grows.
- Caseload: Lead a diverse docket primarily focused on business disputes, IP, and employment.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Leadership: Serve as the lead architect for the litigation function, identifying talent needs and managing department growth.
- Lead Trial Counsel: Maintain an active, hands-on litigation practice, serving as lead counsel on complex commercial, IP, and employment matters from inception through trial.
- Practice Integration: Leverage a portable book of business to expand the firm’s litigation footprint while collaborating with transactional partners to capture internal referral work.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 15+ years of business and commercial litigation with a proven track record in state and federal courts.
- Leadership DNA: Prior experience managing a team or legal department; comfortable mentoring junior attorneys and building operational systems.
- Portable Practice: A portable book of business is required, demonstrating ability to maintain and grow client relationships independently.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Desire to step out of a traditional "Big Law" structure to build and control your own division within a boutique platform.
