Autoneum is the Global Market Leader in Acoustics and Thermal Management. The Company is a leading Swiss supplier in sustainable acoustic and thermal management solutions for vehicles. It develops and manufactures multifunctional, lightweight components for optimum noise and heat protection. The Company is organized into four business groups by region: Business Group Europe, Business Group North America, Business Group Asia, and Business Group SAMEA (South America, Middle East and Africa). This position will be a full-time onsite position located in our manufacturing facility in Norwalk, OH.


This position will be responsible for coordinating accounting activities, including driving cost accounting processes. The position will be involved in supporting the planning, development, and coordination of the annual budgeting process, monthly financial forecasts, and month-end close process.

This position is responsible for collaborating with Plant Management to plan, measure and improve financial performance. The controller/cost analyst is proficient in his/her field and has SAP (FI CO) and HFM experience and will help the company achieve its financial goals and objectives.


This role reports to the plant controller and will manage close accounting, close reporting, and financial planning processes for a light assembly plant. In addition, this role will act as process lead for inventory financial management and cost accounting for two plants. This position requires a candidate with experience and the ability to utilize the appropriate functions in ERP/GL systems to initiate, develop and maintain the standard costing system and to manage information in financial reporting system to deliver high quality financial statements.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


Product and Process Costing (2 sites)

  • Perform all plant costing functions, including but not limited to new product costing, current cost analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a cost analysis system using standard costing, reporting variances on a monthly basis.
  • Calculate overhead rates, labor rates and machine rates to cost at a product level.
  • Support Product profitability reporting with plant costing information and advisement.


Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis (small, light assembly site)

  • Lead monthly close accounting (SAP) and reporting (HFM) processes - WD1 – WD3.
  • Lead monthly forecast process (HFM)
  • Leads preparation of annual budgets (HFM) by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Monitor and report selected variance accounts, determine root cause and collaborate with Plant Management to take actions to correct.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting data.
  • Manage cost center changes in SAP in accordance with agreed plant structure.
  • Provide support to ensure the accuracy of cost center allocations.


Inventory & Materials Analysis (2 sites)

  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends as needed.
  • Perform BOM audits, ensuring the integrity of all products costing.
  • Prepare reports for material usage.
  • Report and monitor inventory monthly.
  • Prepare Inventory reserve analysis and book adjusting entries
  • Produce stock reports by site on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile intercompany material purchase accounts.


Other Areas

  • Complies with Federal, State and Local legal and statutory requirements.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Prepare any other necessary and appropriate reporting documentation as required.
  • Acts as facilitator for cross functional change management projects (as needed)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience.
  • Financial Planning (Budgets, Forecasts), Reporting (Financial Statements) and analysis (variances) experience.
  • Demonstrable Project Management experience.
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office applications with demonstrable experience in excel of model development for financial planning.
  • SAP and/or similar systems experience.
  • Ability to understand and work with FX conversions.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively both with financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Credentials and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years financial planning experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years with standard cost accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years with Management Reporting (customized.)
  • Preferred - experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Preferred - experience with enterprise financial reporting systems (HFM, etc.)
  • Preferred – experience with enterprise General Ledger and ERP systems (SAP, etc)
  • Preferred – participant on SAP implementation of CO module.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the controller with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting, analysis and reporting responsibilities.
  • Responsible for assisting with the Cost Accounting module of the SAP ERP System. This includes staging materials, maintaining material master data, and calculating standard product costs.
  • Assist the controller with monthly variance analysis of the P&L.
  • Preparation of month-end journal entries (i.e. accruals) to ensure accounting records are compliant to US GAAP. Provides corporate accounting all supporting documentation for journal entries prepared.
  • Coordinate with PC&L group with Inventory Control including assisting with physical inventory and monitoring inventory transactions.


Education / Experience Preferred

  • Bachelors Degree with a major in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively communicate
  • Demonstrated strong computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Automotive industry is a plus
  • Prior plant experience is a plus
