SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies. This includes balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide explanations for significant deviations.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Identify and address control weaknesses or deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations. Address audit findings and implement recommendations as needed.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns and assist with tax planning strategies.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, such as investment opportunities, cost reduction initiatives, and pricing strategies. Provide insights into key financial metrics and trends.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting procedures and systems. Implement changes to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff on accounting principles, software tools, and best practices.
  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliation.
  • Assisting the accounting manager as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;
  • Experience in public accounting strongly preferred
  • Active or inactive CPA license preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including both public and private
