ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Coordinates playground activities at park and school sites
• Ensure the safety and provide direct supervision for youth participants aged 6-13.
• Actively promote and encourage participation in playground activities.
• Supervise playground outings and special events

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Functions position:
• Complete necessary administrative tasks, including attendance forms and accident reports.
• Supervises and interacts with participants, leads participants in activities
• Maintains a safe and inclusive play environment
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment
• Communicates clearly and effectively with parents, participants, and colleagues
• Collaborate with the Parks & Recreation Department staff and volunteers to enforce all department rules and policies

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of storage equipment
• Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
• Assists in the planning of playground activities/special events

• Certification in CPR/First Aid – highly encouraged
• Ability to instruct and demonstrate games, sports techniques, and arts and crafts activities
• Demonstrate skills to supervise and maintain control of a group effectively
• Strong understanding and execution of oral and written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective positive relationships with staff, participants, and the public
• Proficiency in oral and written communication
• Competence in operating computers and department-specific software.
• Experience working with school-aged children.
• Adherence to City of Appleton and departmental policies and procedures

Education Level Required: Must be at least 16 years of age.


Experience:Knowledge and/or background of the specific program, program-related experience desired


Playground Leaders work Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - noon and 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. starting June 8th and ending August 13th.

Interviews will be conducting in March and April, 2026.
