Job Title: Scientist, R&D (Analytical Development)

Location: Cary, IL (Hybrid)

Duration: 18-Month Contract (Potential for Extension/Conversion)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced R&D Scientist to support analytical method development activities for new product development initiatives within a highly regulated environment. This role will focus on developing, optimizing, validating, and troubleshooting analytical methods while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support product innovation and commercialization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods using a variety of analytical instrumentation.
  • Perform analytical testing and characterization of materials and products.
  • Utilize techniques such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and other laboratory instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot analytical methods, instrumentation, and laboratory processes.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and technical documentation.
  • Author and revise SOPs, test methods, protocols, and technical reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP requirements, laboratory safety standards, and internal procedures.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders to support project objectives.
  • Support analytical activities associated with New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in analytical chemistry, analytical development, or R&D laboratory environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • HPLC
  • GC
  • FTIR
  • UV-Vis
  • Other analytical instrumentation
  • Proven experience developing and optimizing analytical methods.
  • Experience working within a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with technical writing, SOP development, and laboratory documentation.
  • Familiarity with LIMS systems.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices.
  • Experience supporting medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related regulated industries.
