You will prepare equipment, run and monitor production, perform inspections using precision measuring tools, and help maintain a strong safety and quality culture in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up rolling mill machines, including calibration, cleaning, and preparation, to start and complete production cycles according to work orders.
  • Operate and closely monitor precision rolling mills, including 2-high and 4-high mills, to ensure equipment runs correctly and efficiently.
  • Feed raw metal stock into the rolling mills and related equipment, ensuring proper alignment and handling throughout the process.
  • Inspect parts and material using precision and measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, finish slitter machines, hand tools, calculators, and related equipment to verify thickness, tolerances, and quality.
  • Adjust machine settings as needed during production to maintain required specifications and consistent product quality.
  • Change rolls in the mill as required and perform associated preventive maintenance tasks to support reliable equipment performance.
  • Use general mechanical skills to perform simple maintenance and minor repairs on production equipment when needed.
  • Follow all established company and department rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures to maintain high quality standards.
  • Accurately follow written instructions, work orders, and production documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support and promote a strong safety culture by following all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements, including reporting all incidents and near misses.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to priority changes and short-notice activity while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform general labor tasks associated with machine operation, including lifting boxes, handling materials, and keeping the work area clean and organized.
  • Assist with basic testing and inspection processes, such as tensile testing and other quality checks, as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, resolve issues, and continuously improve processes.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and monitor production and rolling mill machinery, including 2-high and 4-high mills.
  • Ability to perform machine operation tasks in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and logical thinking, with the ability to perform simple maintenance and repairs on equipment.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and related inspection instruments.
  • Ability to use hand tools, finish slitter machines, and basic mechanical tools safely and effectively.
  • Solid basic math skills to calculate measurements, read tolerances, and interpret numerical specifications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions, work orders, and safety procedures.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards and tight tolerances.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities and short-notice tasks.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout 8–10 hour shifts.
  • Ability to frequently lift between 10 lbs and 50 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs as required.
  • Willingness and ability to follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work safely in a moderate to loud, warm manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in rolling mill operation, metal processing, or similar machine operation is preferred but not required; training is available for the right candidate.
  • Experience with general labor in a production or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with tensile testing or other material testing methods is a plus.
  • Comfort using routers or similar tools in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.
