As our Quality Engineer you will perform root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities while maintaining the company quality system. You will perform and monitor quality audits, write and revise quality specifications, and communicate with suppliers and customers on quality concerns and initiatives. Additionally, you will prepare for and host customer and third-party quality auditors to ensure our operations meet the highest aerospace standards.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • System & Technical Support: Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Expertise: Provides Quality System technical expertise and/or support to business, suppliers, and other functional teams.
  • Preventative Quality: Utilize preventative quality techniques to improve product quality, reduce in-line defects, and reduce scrap.
  • CAPA Management: Initiates and follows up on CAPA and NC of product or processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Initiates and executes continuous improvement activities for established processes and supports development of new processes, including use of lean and six sigma tools and problem-solving tools (8D, 5-whys, cause and effect, etc.).
  • APQP Activities: Supports and facilitates APQP activities to improve new product development and production and to meet customer requirements.
  • Quality Planning: Develop internal Quality Plans to account for 100% of all design characteristics.
  • Data Analysis: Develop and analyze statistical data and specifications to indicate present product and process standards and establish proposed quality reliability expectancy of finished product.
  • Design Review: Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Compliance: Attend design reviews as a quality representative to evaluate compliance, proper inspection points, etc. as required.
  • Auditing: Perform audits (internal or external) to AS9100 and/or NADCAP standards.
  • Requirements Review: Review customer orders for quality flow-down requirements and compliance with flow-down requirements in support of Quality Assurance.
  • System Modification: Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Product Maintenance: Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Failure Investigation: Investigate equipment failures/difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Feedback & Partnership: Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs, establish and maintain good customer rapport, and develop and maintain a strong spirit of partnership.
  • Supply Chain Quality: Work with suppliers to improve overall quality of supplier chain.

Requirements

  • Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements).
  • Education: BS degree in an engineering-related discipline is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Must be proficient in operation of a computer and using Microsoft word, excel, and outlook.
  • Technical Knowledge: General knowledge of manufacturing processes. Familiar with quality assurance principles, inspection techniques, testing procedures, and statistical analysis. Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, and MSA.
  • Experience: Experience with data collection and analysis methods leading to demonstrated improvements strongly preferred. Experience with NADCAP processes is strongly desired.
  • Certifications: ASQ CQE and/or Lean Six-Sigma certifications are strongly desired.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively (both verbally and in writing), at all levels.
  • Professional Attributes: Strong analytical and research skills. Demonstrate ability to learn and understand new skills and concepts as required. Self-starter, able to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, accuracy in the work generated. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks to completion and prioritize appropriately. Positive attitude, trustworthiness & good work ethic.
