You will support and improve manufacturing operations by developing, evaluating, and refining processes that enhance quality, reduce cost, and increase efficiency. This position applies knowledge of design, materials and components, fabrication, welding, paint processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, and quality standards in a hands-on, collaborative plant environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Analyze data from ERP systems and other databases to support production needs at the Ash Flat facility and determine root causes of issues affecting manufacturing performance.
  • Design, research, and maintain product fixtures and machine tools to ensure efficient production and consistent, defect-free output.
  • Design and improve manufacturing processes and shop layouts to maximize efficiency, workflow, and safety within the Ash Flat manufacturing operation.
  • Provide on-site technical support for machining specialists, operators, and maintenance personnel.
  • Lead sustaining engineering activities, including executing Engineering Change Notices, maintaining Bills of Materials, updating routings, building and maintaining visual work instructions, and supporting the development of training checklists.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers, product line teams, and plant leadership to implement design and manufacturing changes that reduce cost and improve product functionality.
  • Manage projects from concept and design through capital appropriation requests, qualification, and implementation, ensuring alignment with site schedules and budget requirements.
  • Apply continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles to strengthen employee ownership, performance, and operational reliability.
    Partner with quality teams and shop floor employees to drive quality improvements through root cause analysis, problem resolution, and sustained ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety requirements, and applicable environmental, UL, ISO, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support site and business objectives.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of two years of related experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with ERP software, with JDE experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software, along with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and project management skills, with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization, suppliers, and customers.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawing specifications, apply statistical methods to estimate and plan manufacturing requirements, and familiarity with GD&T.
  • Experience working effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Five or more years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving fundamentals and structured improvement methods.
  • Experience or familiarity with automated processes, robotics, and PLC controls or programming.
  • Exposure to plant network systems.
  • Working knowledge and application of Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience programming CNC machines with experience with CAM programs.
