TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer


Comp: $70,000-$80,000


Location: Indianapolis, IN


Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a Manufacturing Engineer direct hire position in Indianapolis, IN.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and validate tooling, machinery, and equipment to support efficient manufacturing methods, including cost justification and sourcing.
  • Analyze products and processes to drive cost reduction, quality improvements, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Serve as the manufacturing representative on cross-functional teams.
  • Focus primarily on CNC machining and related processes (e.g., grinding, robotics).
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD and Mastercam.
  • Develop and maintain process routings, bills of materials, and CNC programs.
  • Support cost estimating, quoting, and order cost validation against ERP and current material costs.
  • Design patterns, dies, fixtures, and other production tooling.
  • Provide hands-on shop floor support for CNC machining, assembly, sintering, and foundry operations.
  • Research, design, and implement manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and equipment layout.
  • Maintain accurate routing instructions and ensure processes are clearly documented for machinists.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues in collaboration with Quality, Metallurgy, and customers.
  • Assist with CNC programming, setup, and operation as needed.
  • Balance responsibilities between office and plant floor environments (approximately 50/50).
  • Operate in a highly hands-on, fast-paced environment where engineers are expected to support a wide range of operational needs beyond traditional CI or capital projects.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in CNC machining or a machine shop environment, including operation, setup, programming, Mastercam, and GD&T.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints; familiarity with the product development process.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, cost estimation, quoting, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, quality, and customer-facing teams.
  • Flexible, hands-on mindset with the ability to support a wide range of projects and shop floor activities as needed.
  • Prior use of Mastercam CNC programming software preferred.
  • Typically 5+ years of experience preferred; candidates with less experience will also be considered.


TERMS: This is a direct hire position that pays from $70,000 - $80,000/yr.
