Position Overview

The Nuclear Project Manager is responsible for leading and executing in-plant modification projects within a nuclear facility. This role ensures all projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with regulatory, quality, and nuclear safety standards. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical expertise, and experience managing complex projects in highly regulated environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of in-plant nuclear modification projects from initiation through closeout
  • Ensure strict adherence to nuclear safety standards, regulatory requirements, and site procedures
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and resources to meet or exceed performance targets
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, and contractors
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and milestones
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including safety, technical, and schedule impacts
  • Oversee development and implementation of work packages, procedures, and modification documentation
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance programs, including design control and configuration management
  • Support outage planning and execution when modifications are tied to refueling or maintenance outages
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned for future projects


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–15+ years of project management experience in nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated industries
  • Proven experience managing in-plant modifications within a nuclear power facility
  • Strong knowledge of nuclear regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC standards), safety culture, and QA programs
  • Experience with design change processes, work control, and configuration management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)
  • PMP certification preferred

  • May require access authorization and the ability to obtain/maintain unescorted nuclear access
  • Must be able to support outage schedules, including extended hours and weekends as needed


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with capital projects, system upgrades, or plant modifications
  • Familiarity with nuclear outage management
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or civil systems within power generation
