Job Description

The Production Worker supports a high-quality wood manufacturing operation by preparing, finishing, and handling hardwood moldings and related products according to established standards and procedures. This role involves working with hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment, following detailed work instructions, and maintaining consistent quality in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment. The position requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team across different shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for proper hand scuffing and finishing to ensure a high-quality surface on all products.
  • Assist in efficiently loading and unloading the conveyor belt with various moldings and products to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Use measurement devices to verify product dimensions and ensure items meet required specifications.
  • Operate and handle power tools and hand finishing equipment, such as sanders, paint sprayers, and routing tools, in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform repetitive motion tasks with a steady hand to achieve consistent finishes on wood products.
  • Read and follow written work instructions and production documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a receptive attitude and demonstrate flexibility in work placement, performing different tasks as production needs change.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to help ensure products are completed and shipped in a timely manner.
  • Stand for the duration of the shift and lift materials and products, with assistance as needed, in accordance with job requirements.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Adapt to changing duties and responsibilities as needed, understanding that tasks may be added or modified at any time.
  • Support general housekeeping in the work area to maintain a clean, safe, and organized production environment.
  • Work mandatory overtime when required, including extended weekday hours and occasional Saturday shifts.
Essential Skills
  • Previous production or manufacturing experience, including regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use measurement devices accurately to confirm product specifications.
  • Basic computer skills to follow work instructions and production-related information.
  • Ability to read and understand written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience using power tools and hand finishing equipment with a steady and controlled hand.
  • Comfort performing repetitive motion tasks for extended periods while maintaining quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet production timelines.
  • Capability to stand for 8 or more hours per day and safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfort working with measurements and applying them accurately in daily tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in wood working, sanding, routing, or assembly is beneficial.
  • Background using paint sprayers, sanders, or similar finishing tools is preferred.
  • Experience working with paints or stains, such as finishing cabinets, flooring, or automotive parts, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with assembly or production environments involving wood products.
  • Ability to adapt to different tasks and roles within the production area as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality finishes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a wood working production facility that manufactures high-quality, pre-finished hardwood moldings, thin strip flooring, unfinished hardwood moldings, and premium wood fuel pellets. The facility is equipped with kiln-drying operations, an automated rough mill, in-house tooling capabilities, and production equipment designed to support consistent quality. The environment can be hot in the summer and cool in the winter, and it is sometimes dusty due to sawing, machining, and sanding processes. Noise levels are generally moderate, and appropriate safety measures are in place. Required attire includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toe boots. Safety glasses and hearing protection are provided and must be worn as required. The position involves standing for most of the shift and lifting materials as part of the daily work. Standard shift options include a first shift from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and a second shift from Monday to Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. When necessary, mandatory overtime may extend weekday hours (for example, until 12:30 a.m. on second shift) and may include Saturday hours, such as 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Berlin, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
