Production Scheduler

Position Summary
An established precision manufacturing organization in Washtenaw County is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Scheduler to support daily manufacturing operations. The Production Scheduler will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure customer requirements are met while maximizing efficiency across manufacturing processes. This position will work closely with production, purchasing, engineering, quality, and customer service teams to support on-time delivery and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, production capacity, and material availability.
- Coordinate with production leadership to ensure work orders are prioritized and executed according to schedule.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changing priorities, customer requirements, machine downtime, or material shortages.
- Collaborate with purchasing to ensure raw materials and outside services are available to support production timelines.
- Analyze production data and capacity constraints to improve workflow and scheduling efficiency.
- Communicate schedule updates and changes to internal departments.
- Track on-time delivery performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate production planning and ERP system information.
- Support inventory management efforts and help minimize excess inventory while maintaining production continuity.
- Assist in resolving production issues that may impact customer commitments.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience considered.
- Minimum 2–5 years of production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing coordination experience preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably metal fabrication, stamping, tooling, automotive, or high-volume production environments.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience using PLEX Manufacturing Cloud/ERP system preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- Understanding of capacity planning and inventory control processes.
- Knowledge of production flow, tooling, assembly operations, and manufacturing scheduling methods.
