Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Engineer/Architect – Data Plane & Proxy (GenAI Focus) with deep expertise in network data plane and proxy development to help design and build high-performance, scalable systems at the core of Aryaka’s platform.
This role sits at the intersection of networking, security, and emerging GenAI/Agent-driven architectures, and is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex system challenges while also elevating the engineering team through mentorship and technical leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop high-performance data plane systems for proxying, inspection, and traffic processing
- Build and optimize forward/reverse proxy architectures with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latency
- Contribute to and extend Envoy-based proxy infrastructure and related ecosystems
- Work on deep packet processing, protocol parsing, and application-layer inspection
- Integrate GenAI / Agent-based capabilities into networking and security workflows
- Lead system design discussions, drive architecture decisions, and own critical components end-to-end
- Diagnose and resolve complex performance and production issues across distributed systems
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams (including India) to deliver high-quality features
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a strong culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
Core Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering / networking software development
- Strong programming expertise in C/C++
- Deep understanding of network data plane concepts
- Hands-on experience building or working with proxies (forward/reverse), L7 systems, or traffic processing engines
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, and modern web protocols
- Proven experience in system design, scalability, and performance optimization
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex distributed environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Envoy Proxy or similar modern proxy frameworks
- Exposure to SASE / SSE / security systems (SWG, CASB, ZTNA, DLP)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures
- Experience or strong interest in GenAI, LLMs, or Agent-based systems
- Experience with deep packet inspection, protocol parsing, or security enforcement engines
