Plant Manufacturing Engineer – Equipment

Manufacturing engineering role focused on improving equipment performance, process efficiency, safety, and overall production effectiveness through hands-on problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction initiatives across manufacturing operations
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing equipment, technology, and process improvements
  • Developing project plans and supporting capital investment justification for equipment upgrades and process enhancements
  • Improving equipment reliability through refurbishment, upgrades, and maintenance strategy improvements
  • Partnering with maintenance and operations teams to enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Conducting root cause analysis on equipment and process failures and implementing corrective actions
  • Supporting commissioning and startup of new or upgraded equipment, including procedures, training, and spare parts planning
  • Designing fixtures, tooling, and process improvements to ensure safe and consistent manufacturing operations
  • Applying lean manufacturing principles (5S, waste elimination, continuous improvement)
  • Using structured problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and A3 thinking
  • Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting for performance improvement and decision-making
  • Training and mentoring technicians and operators on equipment operation and maintenance best practices
  • Collaborating with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to execute improvements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical preferred)


Core Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in metal fabrication and process improvement
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment (CNC, welding, machining, fabrication systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • CAD proficiency (2D/3D) and understanding of GD&T
  • Experience with automation, controls, and modern manufacturing technologies
  • Familiarity with CMMS and reliability improvement programs
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement expertise
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
