About the Role
The Payroll Specialist supports day-to-day human resources operations across both U.S. and International locations. The role is heavily focused on payroll processing, benefits administration, HR data management, and employee support, while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies.
You’ll work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate HR services, maintain strong data integrity, and support a positive, well-run workplace. This is a hands-on role that also contributes to broader HR initiatives and process improvements.
Work Environment
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Collaborative, team-focused environment with regular interaction across HR, accounting, operations, and warehouse teams
Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll for U.S. employees and monthly payroll for Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
- Handle expense-related payroll processing for both U.S. and Canada
- Maintain and update HRIS data, ensuring accuracy and consistency across employee records
- Pull, analyze, and generate HR reports, including payroll and ad hoc reporting for leadership
- Partner with accounting and office teams, including Canadian counterparts, to align payroll and resolve discrepancies
- Assist in evaluating and maintaining employee benefits programs to stay competitive and compliant
- Support managers with employee-related matters such as compensation, benefits, and workplace concerns
- Contribute to compensation structure updates to stay aligned with market trends
- Ensure compliance with all HR-related regulatory reporting requirements
- Assist with employee relations processes including discipline and terminations, ensuring proper documentation and compliance
- Maintain organized and accurate records for personnel files, payroll, and benefits documentation
- Support management of company vehicle programs in line with policy requirements
- Track compliance training completion and follow up to ensure deadlines are met
- Assist with development and updates to HR policies and procedures
- Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health, safety, and wellness initiatives
- Lead or support HR projects aimed at improving processes and programs
- Help coordinate internal events to support engagement and company culture
- Assist with employee training and development initiatives
- Manage uniform program distribution, tracking, and compliance
- Provide general HR support as needed across the business
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but relevant experience will be considered in place of a degree
- Hands-on experience with U.S. payroll processing required
- Exposure to HR reporting and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office tools
