Payroll Manager

Overview:

The Payroll Manager will lead payroll operations for a large, multi-site organization. This role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-state workforce while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness across all payroll functions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process weekly payroll for 2,000+ salaried and hourly employees across multiple plant and distribution locations
  • Generate, analyze, and maintain payroll reports using Excel, ADP Workforce Now, and/or Paycom to support accounting, finance, and audit requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state wage & hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies
  • Oversee payroll-related reconciliations, audits, and recordkeeping to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Administer payroll activities including garnishments, terminations, tax notices, and benefit deductions
  • Partner with HR and Finance to calculate and process payments to benefit providers (health, retirement, etc.)
  • Respond to inquiries from plant leadership, operations teams, and employees, providing reporting, analysis, and issue resolution
  • Produce and distribute scheduled and ad hoc payroll reports to leadership using advanced Excel functionality
  • Supervise and mentor payroll staff while serving as a key resource to plant and operations management on payroll processes
  • Support additional finance and accounting initiatives as needed


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of high-volume payroll experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or Paycom
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with union payroll and/or multi-location operations is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reporting)
  • High level of confidentiality, data integrity, and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
