Connect Search has partnered with a growing real estate company in search of an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and manage all payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing for corporate and field employees - hourly and salaried, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
This position values hands-on experience over formal education, and we welcome candidates with strong payroll backgrounds regardless of degree status.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing (weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly) for corporate staff and on-site property employees (500+)
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, commissions, bonuses, and deductions
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Oversee multi-state payroll, including tax filings and reporting requirements
- Coordinate with HR and accounting teams on employee data, benefits, and reporting
- Handle payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
- Manage timekeeping systems and ensure accurate tracking of hours worked
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
- Stay up to date on payroll laws, tax changes, and compliance requirements
- Assist with process improvements and implementation of payroll systems or upgrades
Qualifications
- No degree required; equivalent work experience strongly valued
- 5+ years of payroll experience, this will be an independent contributor role
- Experience processing payroll for multi-location or multi-state organizations (real estate or hospitality preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Workday would be a plus
- Familiarity with property management payroll structures (hourly staff, maintenance teams, leasing commissions, etc.) is a plus
- Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools
