Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for 250+ employees across six multi-state locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing (including any international payroll, if applicable).
  • Lead ACA reporting and compliance efforts, partnering with HR and legal counsel to ensure adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Works closely with General Managers to reconcile any errors in employee pay or hours worked.
  • Communicates labor spending with VP of Finance.
  • Administer and support company benefits programs, including open enrollment, vendor coordination, and employee eligibility management, in partnership with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, labor laws, and wage and hour laws, including multi-state tax filings and reporting.
  • Maintain and update the payroll system (Paycor/Paychex) to ensure accurate employee data, pay rates, deductions, and benefits are reflected correctly.
  • Serve as the company’s payroll subject matter expert and primary escalation point for complex payroll, tax, and compliance matters.
  • Work closely with the HR department to ensure proper recording of employee data such as new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits enrollments.
  • Manage payroll-related accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, cash funding requirements, and reporting support for the accounting team.
  • Manage payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local taxes, and ensure timely submission of tax forms such as W-2s and 1099s.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Assist with payroll forecasting and budgeting by providing accurate payroll data and insights to the finance and operations teams.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to provide data for compensation and benefits analysis, ensuring that pay rates are competitive and aligned with industry standards.
  • Stay up to date on changes in payroll-related regulations and ensure company policies and practices comply with the latest laws and standards.


Qualifications:

  • Proficient in payroll system Paycor is required.
  • Two years minimum experience with payroll accounting and processing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a thorough understanding of Excel, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or multi-location environment is preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including multi-state tax laws and compliance.
