Patient Service Representative - Operator

We are in need of a full-time Patient Service Representative - Operator to work with our Optometrist in the Population Health Department. We are looking for a friendly, pleasant, professional person to join our team. The main role of the Patient Service Representative - Operator will be to handle incoming phone calls and scheduling for our Optometrist as well as doing outbound calls to our patients due for their annual diabetic eye exam and requesting records for exams done at outside clinics. This position is based in our administrative offices, not within the Optometrist's clinic, and is a completely phone-based job.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

*Opportunity to work from home or hybrid schedule between home and office locations.

Pay: $20/Hr

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service, communication, multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Typing / key-boarding skills
  • Basic Excel skills
  • Must be a team player and enjoy working with people
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate in English
  • Additional languages helpful

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • This is a back office PSR position - not as much direct patient experience.
  • Answer telephones in a professional manner.
  • Scheduling appointments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing with physicians, clinic staff and patients regarding their appointment scheduling and other needs.
  • Record all demographic information necessary to contact patient and/or bill insurance carrier for services provided.
  • Outbound calls to patients identified as needing a diabetic eye exam.
  • Requesting and importing records for eye exams done elsewhere and updating patient history.
  • Assisting with outreach efforts to patients identified as needing Annual Wellness Visits, Mammograms and other preventative health screenings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 1- 2 year of Medical Receptionist or Patient Service Rep experience preferred
  • 1-year Medical Front Office experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment
  • Inside, climate-controlled working conditions

The salary range listed is the base salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to work experience, education, and/or skill level.
