Part-Time General Laborer

Raleigh Water is seeking a motivated individual to join our Wastewater Maintenance team as a Part-Time General Laborer to support operations at the City’s wastewater treatment plants.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

The incumbent will perform routine manual labor and general maintenance tasks in support of plant operations, groundskeeping, and housekeeping functions by performing the following duties:

• Assists operations and maintenance staff with general labor tasks related to wastewater treatment plant operations
• Performs routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning work areas, equipment, tanks, and structures
• Assists with basic maintenance activities such as material handling, painting, pressure washing, and minor repairs
• Loads, unloads, and transports tools, equipment, and materials
• Supports safe work practices by following established safety procedures, including confined space and PPE requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of wastewater treatment plant operations

Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and 1 to 3 years' experience in routine/minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical or related maintenance work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Computer Skills:

• Basic ability to use simple electronic devices or systems for communication and timekeeping is preferred

Licensing and Certifications:

• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Other Qualifications:

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and basic maintenance equipment

• Willingness to follow safety procedures and work around wastewater treatment processes
