Industrial Painter – Job Description

Industrial Painter responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal and structural surfaces in industrial environments to protect against corrosion, wear, and environmental damage while meeting quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, blasting, sanding, grinding, masking, and degreasing steel, aluminum, and other substrates.
  • Apply industrial coatings including epoxy, urethane, enamel, primer, and protective finishes using spray, roll, and brush techniques.
  • Mix paints, coatings, and solvents according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements.
  • Operate and maintain painting equipment such as airless sprayers, conventional spray guns, compressors, and blast equipment.
  • Perform touch‑up and repair of existing coatings to maintain surface integrity and appearance.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper coating thickness, adhesion, coverage, and finish quality.
  • Follow OSHA, MSDS/SDS, and company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and confined‑space protocols.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and coating specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly store paints, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Work independently or as part of a team in indoor and outdoor industrial environments, including elevated platforms or tight spaces.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial painting or coating applications preferred
  • Knowledge of surface prep methods and coating systems
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and hazardous materials handling
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Willingness to work extended hours, nights, or weekends if required

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tuscaloosa, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
