Packaging Designer – Home Products

About the Role


We are looking for a highly skilled and fast-moving Packaging Designer to join our team and lead packaging development across our home product categories. This role is hands-on and execution-focused — you will be responsible for creating packaging from concept through production while working directly with overseas factories to ensure accuracy, speed, and quality.


Key Responsibilities

Design and develop packaging for:

Boxes (retail + PDQ/display)

Hang tags

Belly bands

Inserts and header cards

Create dielines from scratch (no templates)

Understand product dimensions, folding structures, and material constraints

Ensure packaging is production-ready before factory sampling

Work directly with overseas factories (primarily China)

Communicate daily to resolve dieline and packaging issues

Review factory files, mockups, and pre-production samples

Ensure accuracy before samples are shipped to the U.S.

Prepare print-ready files for mass production

Color accuracy (CMYK/Pantone)

Bleeds, trims, safety margins

Material callouts and finishes (matte, gloss, foil, emboss, etc.)

Manage multiple SKUs simultaneously with fast turnaround times

Collaborate with internal teams on branding, product development, and timelines

Requirements

Proven experience in packaging design for physical products (home goods preferred)

Strong expertise in:

Dieline creation (from scratch)

Print production and packaging structures

Proficiency in:

Adobe Illustrator (required)

Photoshop / InDesign (plus)

Experience working with overseas manufacturers

Comfortable communicating across time zones

Able to troubleshoot factory issues quickly

Strong understanding of:

Materials (paperboard, corrugate, plastics, etc.)

Retail packaging requirements

Cost-efficient packaging design

Ability to work fast, accurately, and independently

Bonus Skills (Preferred)

Experience with private label retail packaging

Knowledge of PDQ displays and club pack formats

Product photography or mockup rendering (KeyShot or similar)

Experience working in high-volume SKU environments
