About the Opportunity

A leading North American consumer packaged goods manufacturer is seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Night Shift to join its high-volume manufacturing operation in Williamson, NY. The facility is a large-scale, highly automated production campus operating 24/7 with diverse processing and packaging capabilities. The site continues to expand and invest in operational excellence, continuous improvement initiatives, and employee development.

This role is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has experience leading teams within unionized production operations.

Schedule

This role offers some schedule flexibility; however, it is a Monday–Friday night shift leadership position.

The expectation is to provide leadership coverage across both:

2-2-3 (12-hour) operations
Traditional 3rd shift operations

Typical start times will range between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM, working an 8-hour management schedule Monday through Friday, with flexibility required based on operational needs.

Additional coverage on weekends and holidays may occasionally be required.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager will oversee manufacturing personnel, production processes, materials, and equipment performance from start to finish. This leader will be responsible for achieving operational targets related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee engagement while partnering closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams.

This is a highly visible leadership role with significant involvement in labor relations, continuous improvement, and operational strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and promote a strong safety-first culture across manufacturing operations
Direct daily production activities to ensure schedule attainment and service goals are achieved
Drive operational performance in safety, quality, productivity, waste reduction, and cost control
Partner with maintenance and technical teams to maximize equipment reliability and uptime
Champion Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
Lead process improvement and operational efficiency projects
Develop frontline leaders and mentor supervisors and technicians
Manage staffing, employee relations, coaching, and performance management activities
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, maintenance, quality, and plant leadership teams
Support a high-performance culture built on accountability, communication, and employee engagement

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, STEM-related disciplines preferred)
Minimum 5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Minimum 2 years of Operations Management experience
Minimum 5 years of leadership/supervisory experience
Experience leading within unionized manufacturing environments preferred
Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies required
SAP experience preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
Proven ability to drive operational improvements and lead through change
