Mechanical Engineer position for a degreed engineer in Walterboro, SC to support a growing chemical manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on the production floor while also designing and improving equipment to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.
You’ll play a key role in troubleshooting equipment issues, then developing and implementing design-based solutions—modifying existing machinery, improving layouts, and supporting new equipment from concept through installation.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues on production equipment and implement long-term solutions
- Design and modify equipment, components, fixtures, and retrofits to improve reliability and performance
- Create CAD drawings and collaborate with vendors or machine shops on fabrication
- Support equipment installation, layout, and startup, including new and modified systems
- Optimize material flow, production layouts, and cycle times across the plant
- Develop test setups or prototypes for process and equipment improvements
- Partner with operations and maintenance teams to identify and solve production challenges
- Document design changes, improvements, and engineering solutions
What They’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, or similar systems
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and designing mechanical components or equipment improvements
- Ability to work on the production floor and translate problems into practical design solutions
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on real-world application
