Job Title: Mechanical / Electrical (Mechatronics) Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical/Electrical (Mechatronics) Engineer with a balanced skill set across mechanical design, electrical systems, and equipment assembly. This role involves subsystem design, prototyping, testing, and supporting machine builds for commercial equipment (e.g., mowers and battery-powered systems).


Top Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PTC Creo (3D modeling & drawings)
  • Minimum 2+ years in Mechanical Design
  • Minimum 2+ years in Electrical Design
  • Ability to physically assemble, troubleshoot, and repair equipment
  • Strong understanding of design integration between mechanical and electrical systems


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical and electrical subsystems for commercial equipment
  • Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and manage PDM workflows
  • Support electrical components development and testing (e.g., lights, alarms)
  • Perform electrical diagnostics, testing, and data collection
  • Participate in machine builds, upgrades, and shop-floor support
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Testing, Systems, Marketing, and Program teams
  • Support prototype development including brackets, weldments, plastics, and castings
  • Conduct engineering calculations, virtual simulations, and design validation
  • Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) and tolerancing principles
  • Provide field support during product trials and customer feedback activities
  • Incorporate user experience and product usage insights into design improvements


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with John Deere (Deere) or similar off-highway equipment
  • Knowledge of casting and plastics design
  • Exposure to battery-powered systems or electric vehicles
  • Experience with embedded systems or software development
  • Background in off-highway, turf equipment, or heavy machinery


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering


Additional Requirements

  • Strong hands-on skills with equipment assembly and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work in lab/shop and field environments
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
