Description

Boater’s World Marine Centers in Islamorada, FL is hiring a Master Marine Technician (A-Level) to support continued growth in our service department.


This role is focused on advanced diagnostics, major repairs, and high-level service work, and is ideal for an experienced technician who can operate independently and lead within the shop.


1. Advanced Diagnostics & Repair

  • Perform advanced diagnostics on outboard engines, electrical systems, and marine components.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, fuel, and electrical issues independently.
  • Complete major repairs including powerhead work, lower units, and full repowers.
  • Identify root causes and recommend effective repair solutions.

2. High-Level Service & Production

  • Execute high-level repair work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Handle priority and complex repair jobs within the shop.
  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Document all diagnostics and repairs in Lightspeed (Dealer Management System).

3. Rigging & System Integration

  • Lead engine rigging, repowers, and full system installations.
  • Install and troubleshoot advanced marine systems including controls and wiring.
  • Verify proper setup, calibration, and performance of all installed components.

4. Shop Leadership & Support

  • Provide guidance and support to Apprentice and B-Level Technicians.
  • Assist in training and developing less experienced team members.
  • Communicate clearly with Service Advisors and management on repair status.
  • Help maintain shop efficiency, organization, and workflow.

5. Quality & Customer Impact

  • Ensure all repairs meet dealership quality standards prior to completion.
  • Reduce comebacks through accurate diagnostics and proper repair execution.
  • Support overall customer satisfaction through high-quality work.

Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience as a Marine Technician.
  • Advanced knowledge of outboard engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience with major repairs and repower installations.
  • Strong understanding of 12V electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Work Expectations

  • Ability to work in shop and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment.
  • Availability to work Saturdays as needed.
