Position Overview
The Marketing Communications Specialist plays a central role in conceptualizing, executing, and optimizing integrated marketing and public relations campaigns. We are seeking an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, a creative eye, strong writing abilities, and a disciplined and strategic approach to working both independently and directly with clients and colleagues.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, this role is ideal for a professional who enjoys taking ownership of a diverse array of projects, facilitating discussions with senior leaders, developing social media content, and driving ROI through storytelling campaigns.
You will:
- Lead client-facing marketing initiatives from strategy through execution
- Exercise strong independent judgment, project management discipline, and the ability to balance creativity with measurable performance outcomes.
- Develop compelling brand storytelling across digital and traditional channels
- Manage social media and paid advertising campaigns with a strong ROI focus
- Facilitate meetings and present insights to senior executives
- Analyze campaign performance and refine strategy based on data
- Collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
1. Strategic Campaign Development- Lead integrated PR and marketing campaigns aligned with client objectives
- Develop timelines, and measurable benchmarks
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery
2. Digital Marketing & Performance- Manage paid and organic social campaigns
- Optimize targeting, placements, and email marketing initiatives
- Track performance metrics and scale campaigns to maximize ROI
3. Content & Brand Strategy- Produce press releases, executive messaging, newsletters, scripts, and social content
- Develop multimedia assets and presentations tailored to target audiences
- Ensure brand alignment, strategic positioning, creative excellence, and editorial accuracy
- Occasional local travel to client locations to capture photography or footage for reels
4. Project Management- Liaise between client executives and internal teams to drive execution
- Prepare agendas, document action items, and track accountability
- Anticipate needs and escalate issues with solutions
5. Media Relations & Reputation- Secure earned media placements
- Monitor coverage and manage brand reputation
- Support crisis communications efforts as needed with little advance notice
6. Client Leadership- Co-lead meetings and present insights with professionalism
- Support client onboarding and workflow clarity
- Deliver proactive service while balancing creativity with business goals
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration- Partner with strategy, film production, crisis, and government affairs teams
- Provide flexible project support and timely feedback
- Contribute to brainstorming and internal strategy initiatives
- Attend film shoots on occasion as needed
8. Operational Excellence & Innovation- Maintain project systems using Asana and provide regular progress updates
- Improve processes to enhance efficiency and quality
- Integrate AI tools and industry best practices into workflows

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of marketing, communications, or PR experience
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Demonstrated experience managing digital campaigns and analyzing performance data
- Strong project management capabilities with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders
- Professional presence and confidence facilitating meetings
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual: English & Spanish or English & Vietnamese
- Experience with Asana or similar project management tools
- Familiarity with graphic design principles and basic design and video editing tools (Canva, CapCut, Adobe, etc.)
- Experience integrating AI tools into workflows
- Interest in public education, government, nonprofit, or corporate communications

Work Environment
