Position Overview
The Manufacturing Manager will oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, workplace safety, and on-time delivery of products to market. This role will lead manufacturing personnel, drive process improvements, collaborate across departments, and help scale manufacturing operations for commercial product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and direct manufacturing operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and delivery targets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop manufacturing technicians and production staff to build a high-performing team.
- Monitor, analyze, and report key manufacturing KPIs including cycle time, on-time builds, defects, downtime, and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, quality, finance, procurement, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Represent manufacturing operations during design reviews and leadership meetings.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, scalability, and cost reduction.
- Support and maintain quality systems utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Assist in developing and managing manufacturing budgets, controlling costs, and identifying operational savings opportunities.
- Oversee equipment maintenance planning to minimize downtime and maximize equipment life.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and components required for production.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present manufacturing performance reports to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience required).
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong background in manufacturing safety, compliance, and quality management systems.
- Experience within robotics, automation, or advanced technology manufacturing environments preferred.
- 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience with progressive responsibility and a proven track record delivering commercial products.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, and quality systems.
- Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar operational improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting products designed for harsh or rugged operating environments preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing multiple product lines or portfolios preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven operational decisions.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing software; NetSuite experience is a plus.
- Experience with industrial Quality Management Systems (QMS), ideally within ISO-regulated environments.
- Preference for candidates with ISO 9001 implementation and operational experience.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles preferred.
