Job Summary
The Quality Manager oversees the Quality Engineering and Out-of-Box Audit (OBA) teams, ensuring that all manufacturing and product quality processes meet customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory compliance. This role provides leadership, strategic direction, and coordination across the department, while promoting continuous improvement initiatives and effective cross-functional collaboration.
The Quality department is responsible for ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, from New Product Introduction (NPI) and Mass Production (MP) support. The team monitors manufacturing performance, analyzes test data, drives yield improvement, and ensures compliance with customer requirements and industry standards. It works closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to identify risks, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee all activities of the Quality and OBA teams, including inspection planning, production quality monitoring, and final product audits
- Establish quality objectives, processes, and standards aligned with customer requirements and corporate policies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, supplier quality, and inspection processes
- Ensure the effective implementation of inspection plans, defect investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between Quality, Process Engineering, Test Engineering, and suppliers
- Review and approve quality reports, metrics, and trend analyses for presentation to senior management and stakeholders
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO and customer-specific quality audits
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching and development, and ensure adherence to departmental procedures and standards
- Manage resources, staffing, and workflow to meet production schedules and quality requirements
- Identify risks and implement mitigation plans to prevent quality issues from impacting production or customer satisfaction
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing multiple technical teams.
- Deep knowledge of quality principles, inspection methodologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and implement corrective/preventive actions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills to influence cross-functional teams, suppliers, and senior management.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including Microsoft Excel and quality management systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in quality or related manufacturing roles
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role within a quality or manufacturing organization
- Experience with ISO standards, audits, and supplier quality management preferred.
