Position Summary

Therma-Stor is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer Intern to support manufacturing operations, process improvement initiatives, and engineering projects across Therma-Stor. This role provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting and exposure to real-world problem-solving, lean principles, CAD applications, and continuous improvement within a technology-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing and documenting current manufacturing processes and workflows
  • Support development and improvement of work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process documentation
  • Participate in identifying opportunities for efficiency, quality, and safety improvements

Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives

  • Support 5S initiatives, and other continuous improvement activities
  • Collect and analyze production data to help identify waste, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
  • Assist with implementing process changes and monitoring results

Engineering, CAD & Technical Support

  • Assist manufacturing engineers with tooling, fixture, and equipment evaluations
  • Create or update CAD models, layouts, and drawings to support manufacturing improvements and projects
  • Support production line layout changes and workstation design using CAD tools
  • Assist with troubleshooting production issues related to quality, throughput, ergonomics, or design

Quality & Documentation

  • Assist with quality inspections, audits, and data collection as needed
  • Help maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and change records
  • Support cross-functional efforts to improve product quality and consistency

Project Support

  • Assist with engineering projects including layout improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions
  • Track action items, timelines, and deliverables related to assigned projects
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, and engineering teams on day-to-day initiatives

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar)
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, or production equipment
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn on the shop floor
