Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory, and distribution operations within a fast-paced bakery manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient material flow, on-time deliveries, inventory accuracy, labor management, and cost control while maintaining safety, food quality, and operational standards. The ideal candidate will lead logistics personnel, improve operational efficiency, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production and customer service goals.


Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Distribution Management

  • Manage daily logistics operations including shipping, receiving, transportation, and warehouse activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and optimize delivery performance.
  • Improve and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for warehouse and logistics operations.
  • Coordinate inbound deliveries of raw materials and packaging supplies to support production schedules.
  • Lead creative logistics solutions to navigate challenges, improve on-time delivery, and elevate customer service.
  • Resolve shipping delays and delivery discrepancies efficiently.

 

Workforce & Labor Management

  • Responsible for providing regular performance feedback, development, and coaching for direct reports.
  • Lead, train, and supervise logistics, warehouse, and shipping personnel.
  • Manage employee scheduling, workforce planning, staffing allocation, and labor utilization.
  • Promote a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.

Inventory & Storage Management

  • Supervise warehousing of materials and assure all materials are stored in compliance with quality, environmental and safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of materials and finished goods using FIFO practices.

·        Develop ways to increase capacity within space constraints.

  • Monitor inventory levels, warehouse accuracy, and product movement.
  • Improve warehouse layout and material flow to increase productivity and reduce waste.

 

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, HACCP, FDA, and company safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and shipping environment.
  • Conduct safety training and enforce workplace safety procedures.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance coordination of forklifts and warehouse equipment.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of logistics, warehouse, or supply chain management experience in manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, transportation management, inventory control, and distribution systems.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
