A leading law firm is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Associate to join its expanding Litigation Group in San Francisco or Orinda, California. This role is ideal for an attorney with 2–5 years of litigation experience who is looking to take on meaningful responsibility in a collaborative and dynamic environment, with a focus on trusts and estates litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough factual investigations and legal research to support case strategy and client objectives.
  • Draft clear, persuasive internal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Propound and respond to written discovery; manage and oversee document productions.
  • Prepare deposition outlines and conduct depositions.
  • Draft settlement agreements and assist in negotiations and mediations.
  • Argue motions and participate in trial preparation, trials, and appeals.
  • Advise clients, beneficiaries, and interested parties on matters arising under the Probate Code, including prosecution and defense of legal rights.
  • Prepare and timely file motions, oppositions, petitions, objections, and other advocacy documents.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop case strategy and discovery plans.
  • Manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously while adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients and supervising attorneys, providing regular updates on case status and developments.
  • Seek guidance from senior attorneys when appropriate and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of litigation experience, preferably including trusts and estates or probate matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience handling discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and courts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality client service.
  • Excellent academic credentials required.
