Lead Engineer – Vehicle / Automotive

Responsibilities

• Translate customer and fleet requirements into clear, build‑ready upfit designs and engineering solutions
• Review and approve design packages, including BOMs, labor standards, and installation methods, and release complete production documentation before launch
• Ensure all designs meet OEM guidelines, NTEA standards, and applicable safety and compliance requirements
• Support initial builds by resolving design, integration, and manufacturability issues while optimizing for scalability and cost
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Quality to align designs with operational needs and project goals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Design Engineering preferred; equivalent experience accepted
• At least 1 year of manufacturing engineering experience plus 5+ years in vehicle upfitting or specialty vehicle manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of OEM chassis, electrical systems, integration practices, and experience with BOMs, labor standards, and production documentation
• CAD and ERP/MRP system experience preferred, with strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities
• Ability to work onsite in Forest Lake, MN and manage multiple technical priorities in a fast‑paced production environment
