As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

We have a new opportunity for a seasoned information security SME within the Information Security Risk Management team. The person selected for this position will be a dedicated, experienced and skilled information security SME within the Information Security Risk Management Oversight (ISRMO) team performing oversight of the IS Strategy and oversight of IS Testing.  This role will be required to collaborate with other TISRM and Corporate Risk teams to provide aggregated CISO oversight reporting.  Additionally, this role will partner with other teams to gather risk data and opinions for use by centralized reporting teams.  

These roles work closely with the broader second line Technology and Information Security Oversight group to help develop complete assessments related to the enterprise oversight of information security strategy and consolidate assessment results into aggregated reporting.  

Outcome of these activities would result in written opinions, credible challenges, and define expected remediation. The operational risk professional in this role will also develop detailed understanding of business strategy, the customer base, products and services and other relevant industry issues, frameworks and emerging risks. This role will be key in the execution of information security risk management oversight and reporting and will serve as a key contact for business and risk partners and staff.  This role will assist leadership with strategy development, be a key driver in execution of the work function, and will serve as a key contact for business and risk partners and staff.

This posting includes three (3) roles which include similar work functions and skills.  The titles are as followed - Information Security Program Reporting, Information Security Strategy and Testing, and Information Security Risk Assessment. 



Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of platform technologies including network, distributed systems, desktop computing, voice, and threat management technologies
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong relationship development skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience


Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience leading, developing, and implementing information security strategies across a complex organization
  • Experience with information security and risk management, including information security assessment, mitigation solution design/implementation, policy and standards 
  • Excellent knowledge of national and international regulations relating to information classification, protection and loss. 
  • Leadership skills including the ability to influence effectively in a matrix environment 
  • Ability to influence with excellent verbal communication ( Clear, concise and organized arguments; strong listening skills, assert second line opinion in meetings with front line)
  • Ability to develop independent risk opinion and put forth in writing/graphically (Research & analytic skills, critical thinking, clear and concise opinion)
