IP Attorney

Intellectual Property & Technology Counsel

An investment management firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Legal & Compliance department. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a lean, sophisticated legal team supporting a broad spectrum of commercial and technology-related matters across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and negotiate agreements involving software, technology platforms, and data rights.
• Provide legal support for a variety of commercial arrangements, including vendor, services, procurement, and consulting contracts.
• Counsel business teams on intellectual property issues, licensing matters, and legal considerations related to technology and information assets.
• Partner with stakeholders throughout the firm to identify and manage contractual and IP-related risks.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with a strong academic background.
• At least four years of relevant legal experience gained at a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both. Attorneys with significantly greater experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating and interpreting technology, licensing, and other commercial agreements.
• Working knowledge of intellectual property law and its practical application in commercial transactions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Exceptional drafting, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, coupled with sound judgment and attention to detail.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with software licensing and financial or market data agreements.
• Exposure to open-source software compliance, artificial intelligence technologies, or related emerging technology issues is advantageous but not required.
