About the Company

This organization operates under two established residential home service brands specializing in HVAC and Plumbing services throughout the Greater Dayton area. The HVAC division is currently in a growth phase and seeking an experienced operational leader who can help build systems, develop technicians, improve processes, and drive long-term growth.


The company currently operates with:

  • 4–5 HVAC technicians (actively growing)
  • Residential-focused service model (90% residential / 10% light commercial)
  • Strong family-owned culture with long-term growth plans
  • Backing from ownership with finance and operational resources, while maintaining a people-first environment


Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Service Manager / Operations Manager with strong residential HVAC experience who can lead technicians, oversee day-to-day operations, assist with estimating and sales, and help scale the business operationally.

This role is ideal for someone who has successfully helped grow a smaller residential HVAC business and understands both the field and leadership side of the operation.

The right candidate must be able to earn technician respect through real industry experience while also implementing structure, accountability, and scalable processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage HVAC service and install technicians
  • Oversee daily operations, scheduling, and team performance
  • Assist with residential HVAC estimates and measurements
  • Support sheet metal estimating and job scoping as needed
  • Help recruit, hire, and develop technicians
  • Coach technicians on performance, accountability, and customer service
  • Build operational processes and scalable systems
  • Drive revenue growth while maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Work alongside ownership to help grow the business from approximately $1–2M toward $4M+ revenue
  • Maintain a strong culture and team environment while improving operational efficiency


What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

  • Residential HVAC leadership experience
  • Background in service, install, and sales operations
  • Experience managing technicians in a residential service environment
  • Ability to estimate residential HVAC jobs
  • Experience growing or helping scale a smaller HVAC operation
  • Strong leadership and accountability skills
  • Ability to balance hands-on operational work with long-term delegation and process improvement

Preferred

  • Experience growing a business from roughly $1–2M to $4M+
  • Light commercial experience
  • Experience implementing processes and operational structure
  • Experience mentoring younger technicians and developing teams


Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

• Base Salary: $80,000 – $110,000

• Typical target range around $90K–$100K

• Profit sharing opportunity:

5%–7.5% initially

Potential growth to 10% based on performance

The compensation for this position is expected to range between $80,000 - $110,000 per year. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed.
