Ohio Logistics is seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Specialist to serve as a trusted partner to the Director of Human Resources while owning the complete payroll lifecycle, leading HR operations, and supporting organizational growth. This role blends hands‑on payroll expertise with HR leadership, compliance oversight, and process optimization.
You will act as a system super user, oversee a small HR team, and play a vital role in ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a positive associate experience.

What You’ll Do
- Payroll Leadership & Super‑User Responsibility
- Own the full end‑to‑end payroll process, including data entry, audits, approvals, processing, and post‑payroll reconciliation
- Manage payroll tax reporting, filings, year‑end processes, and coordination with payroll vendors
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Serve as HRIS and Payroll System Super User, providing system administration, troubleshooting, reporting, and user training
- Partner with Finance to ensure accurate payroll accounting, reporting, and controls
HR Operations & Business Partnership
- Act as a key HR partner to the Director of Human Resources and leadership team
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, policies, and HR best practices
- Support compensation planning, associate development, and organizational initiatives
- Manage associate relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution with professionalism and discretion
HR projects and process improvement
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to support team growth
- Support succession planning, upskilling, and leadership development initiatives
Benefits Administration
- Oversee benefits administration to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely enrollments
- Evaluate benefit offerings and recommend improvements aligned with associate needs and company goals
Training, Compliance & HR Projects
- Coordinate onboarding, training, and compliance programs across the organization
- Lead HR projects designed to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance the associate experience
- Analyze HR metrics and payroll data to support informed, data‑driven decision‑making
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred)
- 3–5 years of hands‑on payroll experience, including full payroll processing and payroll tax reporting
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership or HR Business Partner responsibilities
- Proven experience managing direct reports (2–3 employees) over at least 2 years
- Strong working knowledge of payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and HR best practices
- In‑depth understanding of federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws
