Job Summary


The Human Resources (HR) Manager serves as a strategic partner to leadership, providing human resources leadership for a multi-state organization of approximately 200 employees. This role oversees key HR functions, including employee relations, employee engagement, training & development, and compliance, while guiding leaders through organizational change and workforce planning. The HR Manager aligns HR practices with business objectives, supports employee engagement, and strengthens organizational effectiveness. The role balances operational accountability with strategic insight to ensure HR initiatives contribute to long-term stability and growth.


Essential Job Functions:


Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and processes.
  • Assess, design, and continuously improve the company’s performance management framework, ensuring leaders and supervisors are equipped to recognize performance, develop talent, and address performance concerns in a consistent and compliant manner.
  • Partner with Leadership to support performance improvement plans, development plans, and disciplinary actions, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to policy and employment laws.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to identify high-potential employees and develop succession planning strategies and career pathways to support internal mobility and workforce continuity.
  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure timely completion of performance evaluations, including sending monthly reminders, tracking completion, and escalating overdue evaluations as needed.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to leadership, advising on workforce planning, organizational design, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Champion a positive culture that supports organizational change and employee growth.
  • Manage and mentor HR team members to achieve departmental and organizational goals.


Employee Relations (Core Focus)

  • Lead and manage complex employee relations investigations across for the Femwell Population, ensuring fair, timely, and compliant resolution.
  • Conduct and oversee internal investigations related to employee grievances, policy violations, and workplace concerns, ensuring fair, thorough, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Advise leaders on employee relations matters to minimize risk and protect the organization from liability.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, disciplinary actions, and documentation across the organization.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance management practices.
  • Partner with legal counsel as needed to address risk and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Analyze ER trends and recommend proactive measures to enhance workplace culture and engagement.


Compliance & Multi-State HR Practices

  • Ensure full compliance with federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, wage & hour, state leave laws).
  • Lead HR audits, compliance reporting, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Maintain and update employee handbooks and policies in line with regulatory changes and company standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on multi-state compliance requirements.


Training & Leadership Development

  • Design, implement, and manage training programs that support leaders and supervisors at varying skill levels, including people management, communication, interviewing techniques, conflict management, and employee engagement.
  • Partner with Leadership and internal subject matter experts to assess training needs and tailor programs that align with organizational goals.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, performance outcomes, and engagement metrics, adjusting programs as needed.


Engagement, Recognition & Retention

  • Work jointly with the Communications team to develop and roll out employee recognition programs, including identifying monthly award recipients and recognizing anniversaries, promotions, and milestones.
  • Participate in and support the Retention Committee, implementing initiatives aimed at improving employee morale, engagement, and retention.
  • Analyze engagement and retention data to identify trends and recommend actionable strategies.


Payroll Administration

  • Lead and manage payroll processes for Femwell, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state wage laws.
