LHH is teaming up with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Santa Clara, CA in search of an HR Manager to support multi-site human resources operations and employee relations initiatives across the organization.


This is a high-impact role supporting a complex and fast-paced environment, where HR plays a critical role in supporting employees, ensuring compliance, and navigating sensitive workplace matters. The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR professional who thrives in complex, high-risk environments and is confident managing sensitive employee relations matters independently. This individual brings strong investigation experience, excellent judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with professionalism and structure. They are adaptable, highly organized, and able to manage shifting priorities without losing focus or momentum. Strong communication skills, curiosity, and a willingness to dig into regulations and compliance requirements are essential for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex employee relations cases and workplace investigations, including sensitive and high-risk matters
  • Handle compliance-related responsibilities such as unemployment hearings, EEOC matters, EEO reporting, and regulatory adherence
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on employee relations, ensuring consistent and legally compliant practices
  • Provide guidance and oversight to HR team members, including up to 4 direct reports
  • Ensure all HR processes and policies are aligned with current labor laws and compliance requirements
  • Oversee HR functions through the team including leave of absence administration and benefits, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Travel between multiple sites as needed to support investigations, training, and HR initiatives
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations


Qualifications:

  • Must have extensive, hands-on experience managing complex employee relations issues and workplace investigations
  • Required experience handling unemployment hearings, EEOC-related matters, and regulatory compliance
  • Must be comfortable working in high-risk, fast-moving environments with sensitive employee matters
  • Strong understanding of labor laws and compliance requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Must be highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to be concise, clear, and structured
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites as needed


Job Type: Contract to Hire

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Fully on-site in Santa Clara, CA

Hours: Standard business hours (with flexibility as needed based on investigations and site needs)

Pay Rate: $50–$55/hour, depending on experience
