HR and Safety Coordinator

The HR & Safety Coordinator supports both Human Resources and Safety functions to help build a culture of safety, compliance, and employee engagement. This role is responsible for executing HR administrative tasks, conducting safety training during new hire orientation, managing Workers’ Compensation claims, and assisting in the development and implementation of safety initiatives that align with company goals. The position serves as a key resource for promoting consistent safety practices across the organization while providing day-to-day HR support.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and change management of site-specific safety programs and initiatives to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Facilitate safety training for new employees during orientation and assist with ongoing employee safety education.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings at assigned locations and ensure that all safety concerns identified during walk-throughs are addressed and resolved..
  • Support accident and incident investigations and help ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Partner with supervisors and site leaders to promote safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards.
  • Maintain and track safety-related documentation, training records, and compliance logs.
  • Provide HR administrative support including personnel file maintenance, HRIS data entry, and employee communications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Help ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and support corrective action implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Strong influential skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.


Supervision Received:

Works with minimal supervision. Issues and concerns need to be communicated to the supervisor.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Safety-focused roles is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and use HRIS and safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Comfortable facilitating training sessions and communicating safety expectations to all levels of staff.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
