We are hiring a full-time (40 hours weekly), non-exempt GIS Analyst in the GIS Division of the Information Technology Department. The purpose of this position is to create and maintain IT products for the GIS workgroup and the clients/departments it supports. This position assist IT staff when developing and managing databases related to spatial data; and directly uses GIS technology and supports its use by others.

Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 117:$27.33 - $32.79 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists database administrator for spatial data, ensures quality control protocols are followed for data maintenance and data flow process documentation is maintained (including metadata).
  • Establishes audit procedures to ensure that the accuracy of the data is being evaluated at every step.
  • Manages highly complex GIS projects to update systems, improves efficiency or implements new software or methodology.
  • Delivers customer service and technical support to citizens and county departments with information requests related to GIS projects, mapping websites, dashboards and other technologies.
  • Coordinates with Public Safety Communications, Emergency Management, Assessor’s Office, Planning, Engineering, and other departments to ensure data and information products are meeting their needs.
  • Monitors workflows and data needs so recommendations can be made to increase efficiency and accurate decisions can be made when setting priorities.
  • Provides decision making support by performing advance analysis of spatial data using GIS technology to answer questions asked by staff or the public. Uses spatial and quantitative methods such as pattern recognition and descriptive statistics.
  • Creates and manages online tools using spatial data
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Urban Planning Engineering or related discipline.
  • Two (2) years of GIS technology, data management, cartography or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
